It's kind of a banner day to learn that (1) the future Republican leaders are all provably racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic; (2) Trump's new refugee policy is "whites only"; and (3) the Supreme Court has plans to trash voting rights laws that protect non-whites. A lot to swallow in one day.

I would think any experienced journalist who is doing their job has already developed contacts within the military who will tell them off the record what's really going on. If they don't have a press pass, what's Hegseth going to do when they refuse to be a stenographer of Hegseth's spin?

If women won't use Ubers because of driver misconduct, that's probably almost half Uber's business. I've heard that Uber is introducing an option to let women request female drivers.

I suppose we were too short-sighted. We were worried about their game-playing on Roe v Wade, when Roe was just a quick waystation to their real goal which was to restore a white oligarchy with overtones of theocracy as the cases were presented to them.

I think we have to go much deeper in the fundamentals of how government is constituted, how our representatives and judiciary are chosen, and how we prevent another demagogue from hijacking the entire government for his personal financial interests.

Also, I have some feelings of sisterhood, and when rural hospitals are underfunded, the first thing to go seems to be maternity and labor & delivery. Pregnant women in red states face enough dangers, without losing access to that care.

Yes, in LA or Chicago, I'm sure there are cops who could have directed them to the areas with gang members. LA (and probably Chicago) have task forces which probably could have taken them to the exact streets controlled by Mexican or Salvadoran or Venezuelan gangs. Nah, easier to raid Home Depot.

The regime is trying to shut down every source of on-line warning as to where ICE is operating. Then ICE outs itself with profligate use of tear gas: if you smell it, you know to hide or get away. For the citizens going about their lives and affected by gas, this may help turn the tide.

Don't Republicans' spiritual and philosophical guides claim that the adult is formed by the time the child is 5 or 7 years old? It's not as if any of these guys, in their forties, are suddenly going to become non-racist. At most, they'll find better dog whistles to try to hide it.

While some consequences are certainly due for these people, in most cases, they reached their leadership positions by way of election by other young Republicans. And almost certainly, none of the YR's who elected them would have been shocked to hear that their leaders expressed these sentiments.
