Really is not discussed enough how England have, for a long time now, been an absolute machine in qualifying. This is not nothing! Very big teams have scares in qualifying! Italy have missed the last two world cups! We don’t even notice qualifying is happening because England never break a sweat!

I'm a fair-weather fan of the England national side but the transformation from 2002-era "tabloid-appointed World Cup Winners who hate one another oh fuck we've gone out in the last 16" to "some nice role-models who make you feel disappointed for losing in the semis" isn't a terrible trajectory.

I mean I don’t get your point, the Greens are very internally democratic (this is not necessarily good! It means they end up with some absolutely batshit policies!) they’re just small. You can be internally democratic with 3 people!

This would arguably work better here than there, where the formula for “tax raising capacity” of each province is afaict basically like “well Alberta could simply heavily tax the oil companies” so as long as Alberta doesn’t do that absolutely rinses them to pay Quebec

Canadian style equalisation payments I guess. Or how Canada does VAT (the feds collect the money but have to hand it all over to provinces with no restrictions on what they can do with it , but an adjustment formula to distribute money between them)

I’ve said this before but every other tech company releases *every year* something much like last year and every 3-7 years people upgrade and it feels like an upgrade because skipping 5 gens *is* an upgrade. This is surely the way forward
