I'm just glad it works now, both CVS and SVN had major flaws that would lock up the repository once it got to a certain scale.

Fixing those usually meant starting a new repo which was horribly destructive if your code wasn't merged.

It goes all the way back to CVS days when I think I was added as a contributor script.

CVS didn't have such nice branching and we didn't do CI/CD so it was a bit more of a wild west saloon compared to gits sophisticated cocktail bar vibes.

Yes it should be simple to avoid loopholes

The problem Is that Sales tax just gets passed on to the consumer.

Taxing specific profits is tricky because people will find ways to reclassify them or loan thr profits before they are taxable.

Mandatory is really not likely, it's just not feasible in practice. It is technically mandatory that I carry an ID card in the Netherlands but they won't arrest you for it unless you make it a problem.
