I think they did use James Bond music for an early trailer, yeah
Maybe he's trying to emulate Colin Clive? But, like, WHY.
Also, Oscar Isaac is doing an old-timey English accent and it sounds like his jaw is wired shut. It's kind of hilarious
#Frankenstein knows he needs an isolated Build-A-Bride facility, because, I don't know, maybe Brides have a tendency to explode or something, so he confides to his Good Chum, Henry Clerval, that he's having pre-wedding jitters.
HENRY: Road trip?
VICTOR: I COULD use a vacation!
HENRY: WOO! Road trip!
Except, {I compassionated him and sometimes I felt a wish to console him, but when I looked upon him, when I saw the filthy mass that moved and talked, my heart sickened and my feelings were altered to those of horror and hatred.} #Frankenstein is quite the artist of the macabre, it would seem
#FRANKENSTEIN: {[H]ave you not already shown a degree of malice that should reasonably make me distrust you?}

Yep, see, there you go, Monstro. There's your problem right there
I would venture to say that calculatedly murdering little Billy #Frankenstein, The Monster has committed quite the act of self-sabotage here. That's probably gonna discourage his dad's inclinations to vouch for him
The Monster is doomed to be lonely because every single human who claps eyes on him runs screaming, but here's the respected Victor #Frankenstein, who could probably vouch for him being an okay dude, or could at least be a companion to him!
Monster also promises to go off the grid and live far away from humanity if #Frankenstein builds him a Bride, and this is another thing that bugs me: it's a false dilemma!
#Frankenstein is almost moved by The Monster's tale, until they get to the murdering-his-brother part, and then he's reminded of how much he hates his Monster, and he's like I'M NOT GONNA and the Monster's like, Then I'ma kill everyone you know until you build me a Bride! and Frank's like:
a cartoon character from lilo and stitch is holding a baby stitch and says fine
Alt: Jumba Jookiba from Lilo and Stitch, gripping Stitch in his fist and glaring at him. He grumbles, "FINE."

On the other hand, it's evident that The Monster does intend to stick with a mate--let's say his Bride?--when she's switched on, so u tried, buddy, u tried

#Frankenstein
This has always bugged me: The Monster spends quite a lot of time bemoaning how bleakly miserable and lonely his existence is, then turs around and is like ANYWAY MAKE ANOTHER ONE, which seems to be doing the exact thing Victor #Frankenstein did: create a life with no regard for its wishes
MONSTER: Surely a girl will fix me! Make me a tradwife, Dad!

... And we see the cycle of disregard continued here. I see why The Monster thinks his only chance at sociability is a fellow monster (see quoted,) but if he really hates existing so much, why make another? bsky.app/profile/amel...
HOWEVER, it feels like a mistake to have given The Monster ANY human interaction that went relatively positively; the complete lack of any direct social connection and the models of it he sees for others is what gives him the idea that he needs somebody like him to have that for himself

Truly delighted to see that #Frankenstein's Monster is a heartthrob. Good for him

I liked it a lot! The sympathy to The Monster felt right on--and the script gives him a good balance of verbal fluency so that he can articulate his feelings and not sound like Percy Shelley edited him to within an inch of his life
Anyway, looking forward to watching Grillem del Toro's #Frankenstein tonight!

Okay, NOBODY on YouTube can pronounce "Guillermo del Toro"
