Very disappointing @jetbrains.com I have a commercial license, but this is something that should be opt-in, not opt-out, even for people with free licenses. (If it has to exist at all. I'm tired of everything needing AI integration)
ambrosiacvet.bsky.social
I do already have a commercial license (bc I got a huge discount after graduating for using it as a student), so I'll probably use it the rest of this year to get my money's worth... but we'll see once it becomes time for renewal. I'm tired of all the AI

This upsets me so much. I literally love their IDEs

Low key the Godot mascot has always kind of freaked me out. Something about it unnerves me.

It's gotten easier now that I'm leading a team of programmers. Other people relying on my work def helps me make decidions faster lol.
ambrosiacvet.bsky.social
For sure, the awareness that it can always be better def goes both ways sometimes. 🥲

I wish more people in the world realized that me doing 4 hours of work while rested and having my other worries and needs taken care of is exponentially more productive than me forcing myself to try to work for 8-10 hours.

Grinding is counterproductive.

I've found that's how I am with a lot of things in game dev. I tend to want to over-optimize everything, and sometimes that means weeks of mulling over game architecture before I even do anything. Some planning is good, but I want to get better at just diving in.

Do your research before choosing a domain registrar, people. Seriously, it'll save you a headache and months of downtime.
ambrosiacvet.bsky.social
Ah! I was active for a good bit but fell off recently. I haven't had many updates to share about my projects for 2 reasons:

1. I joined @hawthornhousegames.bsky.social as their Programming Lead! Tír na nÓg is a wonderful project; I'm excited to share more soon.

2. My domain registrar was a scam 😬

😞 Rip to all of us gifted kids who went into game dev where there are no jobs lol

They're obviously BS and have no real bearing on my life now, but still, I've always wondered.

OMG I forgot about the IQ test. I remember thinking it was really silly, but not much else because I think it was administered in either 1st or 2nd grade? I tried asking my mom what I got, and she wouldn't tell me (the results were given to her directly), and she claims now that she doesn't remember
ambrosiacvet.bsky.social
My mom still sees the old admin sometimes and says that when they see her they still say that I was the school's most brilliant student. Just think it's "funny" that they feel a sense of accomplishment when they fought against giving me any sort of enrichment at every turn.
ambrosiacvet.bsky.social
My mom had to fight like hell to even get them to let me skip two grades in Math, which was honestly way more complicated for everyone involved than just letting me skip a grade or two.
ambrosiacvet.bsky.social
We must have gone to the same school lmao. I'd finish my work early and then get yelled at for reading or drawing. Like what did they want me to do, stare at the wall all day?? (The answer is probably yes, sadly.) Apparently it "made the other students feel bad" to see me reading or drawing 🙄

Finished the longest section of Stephen Ulibarri's "Intro to GAS" course. This spell menu is nuts! You can see it in action and check out how it works in my latest blog post: blog.ambrose.cvetkins.space/July-2025/Sp...

Git LFS was overkill for short-term student teams in #UE5, so I looked for something simpler: #DiversionVC is looking like a solid fit so far.

Wrote a post about what it is and why I’m using it:

Why I Use Diversion VC for my Current Projects
After years of exclusively using Git and Git LFS for my game development projects, I found myself in a predicament: getting teammates up to speed using Git for short term projects is a difficult task.

I agree with this sentiment, but if I had to guess, a lot of this is probably publishers pushing for hyper-realistic graphics. I'm sure if development teams were given more leeway, we'd see much more creative art direction, even in Unreal.
