With ballots dropping days, Cherish Kirkland & their supporters have been boosting false claims of harassment against 2 of the progressive challengers (Kurt Dressner & Shilpa Prem) in an unsuccessful attempt at getting their endorsements withdrawn.

Last year, a group of wealthy #Kirkland homeowners created a group called "Cherish Kirkland" to fight against the city's 2044 comprehensive plan.

They have aggressively spread misinfo, & have been hostile to renters and those supporting inclusivity

Local election🧵

This year's elections in #Kirkland are an important one.

It will help determine whether the city continues to move towards the direction of being an inclusive community, or if it stays an exclusive place where only the wealthy can afford to put down roots.

Both We 💚 Seattle's board member, Tom Wolf, & WHS are publicly calling for #Trump to send the national guard in to invade San Francisco.

It's not funny, and it's not a game, yet here we are.

It took only 10 months for We 💚 Seattle to be all in for authoritarianism.
The image shows a tweet by T Wolf with a video of a person outdoors against a backdrop of tall buildings. The tweet comments on crime in San Francisco, suggesting the removal of organized drug dealers to resolve issues. The video caption humorously critiques local politicians. The tone is assertive and critical. A reposted tweet from Elon Musk emphasizes the need for a specific solution, referencing T Wolf's tweet highlighting San Francisco's fentanyl crisis.

For context, the La Quinta hotel was OK'd by Kirkland for use as Supportive Housing in 2022 for community members facing homelessness.

Since then, it has been the subject of much misinfo and ugly rhetoric.

Catie originally ran in opposition to it:

Even after LUMC's Safe Parking organizer corrected Catie's misinfo, she still tried to find a way to create a wedge between La Quinta Supportive Housing & Kirkland's Safe Parking Program.

Catie was also unaware that while doing this, she was speaking to their co-founder.

"Screenshot of a Facebook post by 'Committee to Elect Catie Malik,' discussing the urgency of opening a housing facility. #Kirkland City Council candidate Catie Malik decided to use the city's Safe Parking Program, which serves families, as a way to create tension around La Quinta

She not only gave false info about the program, but was unaware that its founder has long advocated for PSH.

Honestly, this seems like a setup to give exposure to the conservative-leaning candidates and also provide a "gotcha" moment against the progressive ones.

Some of the candidates weren't even asked before their name was put on the event!
alyciaramirez3.bsky.social
Another strange thing I noticed about this "Great Debate" co-hosted by We 💚 Seattle is that I've only seen it advertised by Republican candidates, our local GOP, and, of course, WHS, which probably explains why the conservative-leaning candidates had such a friendly audience.
alyciaramirez3.bsky.social
Note: The debate event We 💚 Seattle co-hosted today was not live-streamed, and it's unclear if there will be a recording, but from what was reported it sounds like the conservative-leaning candidates had a friendly crowd.
alyciaramirez3.bsky.social
The "debate" co-hosted by We 💚 Seattle was today. Katie Wilson's campaign was not there (they said she's feeling unwell), and Harell had a VERY friendly crowd.

ECB live bluskyed the event, and captured what Harrell said about "unmasking antifa".
ericacbarnett.bsky.social
Harrell says yes—"what we're trying to do is make sure that masks with the intent to camouflage themselves to exert force over people is not what we want and we'll prove it that so I'm all for that."

There are two "weirdos" from WA state—her and Jonathan Choe.

I'm also from WA and have seen them both devolve to this point. Scary they now have the ear of the White House.

KUOW needs to stop platforming her. You can't " both sides" with fascism and bigotry.

It's disappointing that they didn't learn this lesson after Chris Rufo.
alyciaramirez3.bsky.social
So far, 2 candidates have officially dropped: Alexis Mercedes-Rinck and Dionne Foster.

None of the candidates were told that We 💚 Seattle was involved, and some weren't even asked beforehand.

As of this writing, they haven't taken Dionne Foster off the advertisements.

What's wild about all the money & efforts folks at Let's Go WA & Brian Heywood are throwing at these anti trans initiatives is that there are only 5-10 trans athletes in the entire STATE.

Out of 250,000 student athletes in WA, only 5-10 are trans.

Brandi Kruse & Let's Go WA were denied use of Tumwater Middle School's facilities for their anti trans initiative event, after giving them only 3 days' notice.
