it seems a little silly to deep it this much on gposes but this applies for any media, for example fanfics on ao3!

anyway, the people that stick around and become friends with in this little hobby of ours makes it all worth it imo!

i've waffled on but i agree in that the statement "just do it for you" does not help since /everyone/ loves to get recognition for their work, it's a complete lie if you say you don't but there is a balance to strike if you want to stay creative! it's really up to you to find that balance

maybe that piece of work will come back and the mass will start to appreciate it or maybe it'll stay niche forever - that's something we can't control buuuut this applys to all types of works.. even our little gposes since basic gposes will get the most interactions cus it's easy for ppl to consume

you see it constantly on other platforms where creators can put out really creative stuff but because the average person cannot consume it in a relatively short amount of time, it's going to get ignored but the people that appreciate whatever art it is, will stick around and stay

it all comes down to how people consume media, it's nothing on you as a person/creative. this topic is constantly being discussed / studied / changing and for marketing, it's a constant factor. it really deeps into psychological stuff and is pretty interesting
