The gameplay is extremely similar to Star Trek Timelines, and the choices you make seem fairly meaningless. Messing up an away mission still makes you win with no change to the outcome.
I was contacted by someone via my website. They played the Star Trek mainframe game on an actual computer at a university - one with no screen. He still has the printouts form one of his games, some of which can be seen here.
Captain’s Chair is a 1-v-1 (or solo) card game where you have to master each captain’s abilities to do well. Each captain suits a particular strategy – such as combat, diplomacy, exploration, and science.
Star Trek Lower Decks: Buffer Time (Board, Modiphius, 2024)
Buffer Time is a co-op card game where you have to complete assignments while also acclimating leisure points. Do too much of a good job and you’ll be given more assignments to complete.
Star Realms is a great deckbuilder game, and the Star Trek version is a simple retheme - so much that you can combine it with the regular game (such as co-op scenarios).
Star Trek: Into The Unknown (Board, Wizkids, 2024)
The replacement for Attack Wing, with a big focus on ships being the correct scale. The starter set comes with the tough little Defiant and an Enterprise D that can separate.
A strange event in Fortnite which is essentially a playable music video for a Kid Cudi song. If you take too long, the game zaps you forward in the level. There was a Star Trek themed prop hunt as well.
Star Trek Discovery: Black Alert (Board, WizKids, 2023)
A game where the USS Discovery and the ISS Charon race around the mycelial network to try and complete their objectives, based on the second half of Discovery season 1.
A set of puzzles strung together by stories about three ships. The puzzles themselves are a bit of a disappointment and you only get one chance to answer. Has some great components, though.
Star Trek: Resurgence (PC/XBO/PS4, Dramatic Labs, 2003)
A choose your own adventure game. Has some wonderful set-pieces and great use of interacting with LCARS. Alongside a great story and some lovely characters, it makes for a great Star Trek game,
Walk around a vast amount of bridges - and a few other locations like DS9's promenade - in stunning detail. Includes some concept bridges and a load of variations. Definitely worth checking out.
Star Trek: Super-Skill Pinball (Board, WizKids, 2022)
A rather odd choice for a Star Trek game, but one is a ton of fun. It's a roll and write pinball game (your marker moves down, has to go to a certain number) with a Trek theme.
A reskin of Fantasy Realms, a game where you draw and discard cards to try and collect a bunch that will score well with each other at the end of the game.
Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova (XBO/PS4/Switch/PC, Tessera Studios, 2022)
A fun action puzzle game with an interesting story. Captures the show well and has lots of great dialogue. Set half way through season 10, with hints about what's up ahead.
It has some fun comic-style story snippets, but the game is just endless grinding to grind some more, only that things take longer and longer the more you play.
A solo or co-op campaign for Star Trek Attack Wing, has some great cards which acts as the "AI" for your opponent ships. Breathes new life into the game.
