Lisle St. When I worked in the area in 1970 Lisle Street, together with Tottenham Court Road and Edgware Road, was a veritable Mecca for war surplus electronic goodies. From which could be constructed pirate Medium Wave radio transmitters. Or so I'm led to believe...
Amazing. Even as far back as 1927 - almost a century ago - we were nostalgic for Christmases gone by.

I saw a family friend give a vacuum cleaner to his wife for Christmas once years ago. It didn't go over well and you could cut the tension with a knife. It was returned the following week.

In the 1950s we always had Eat Me dates at Christmas. Identical box & layout. About 10% of the dates were smooth and lovely, the rest were hard and horrible. Now we get Medjool and - even better - Zamli dates all year. Some progress is good after all!
