Yes I always thought that it was a little bit magic that the 7 turned into an 11 at the Newhaven terminus.

Yes that was where I used to catch my bus home (11 in my case) after a Princes Street trip. My mum always made sure we caught the bus there as it was a fare stage for adult fares so it was cheaper than catching the bus in Princes Street.

As a (very) old boy of Morrison's I tested my husband on his knowledge of the window - he got it eventually!

In the 1960s we brought a penny (that's an old penny!) a week into school to help feed Jim the polar bear at Edinburgh Zoo. Years later I discovered that Jim was female. Explains why Jim and the other polar bear, Queenie, never produced any offspring.

I spent a year in that school. It seemed very old fashioned. Moving to the new school (since demolished!) was a breath of fresh air.

Ah but did you have a carpet that you can afford by Cyril Lord? My parents got a very jazzy floor covering in their Edinburgh bungalow in 1963 and it was still in use in 2012. Possibly explains why Cyril Lord went bust.
