Just finished The Fifth Season and it was fantastic! Cannot wait to start the next book. Also, I've been using one of my daughter's valentine cards as a bookmark and did not realize how fitting it was for this book until now. 😅

I heard an ad for AI telling creatives not to worry because AI is just another tool no different than any other, because "you are still the judge of what is good." This is the perfect encapsulation of how AI hype is tricking people into believing that consumerism and creativity are the same thing.
Feeling some fantasy for my next read and I've got it narrowed down to these three. Never read Maas or Jemisin before, so kinda leaning that way. What say you, Bluesky?

Spending a few weeks sober is a great way to remind yourself that every morning you wake up feeling like shit no matter what you do.

Just finished book 2 of the Gap Cycle and wow! This series should probably be called "The Most Broken People in the Universe." Emotionally harrowing and deeply insightful into brutal trauma. Not for the faint of heart, but I love it! Follow me for more book recommendations.

I thought I was done with #Drizzt. I'd read every book, but after the Neverwinter saga it felt like time to move on. Then last year I picked up Starlight Enclave on a whim, and it left me unable to wait to devour these next two books. This trilogy has been the best Drizzt story in years.

It's a story about free will and self-delusion.

TW: It gets pretty gruesome.

Well all these other guys might be stabbing me but at least I can still rely on my good friend Brutus
I finished the Hyperion Cantos earlier this year. I thought the Endymion entries were fine, but it did feel a bit like chasing the high of the first two books. I can't blame Simmons for juicing everything he could out of this universe though. I loved the time I spent there.

Then he got to the south and he grapples with America not as an abstract concept, but with the vile underbelly on which the serpent has crawled since its inception. And the most important message in this book is how white supremacy will devour even the whites, should they dare to oppose it.
It was easy to assume this would be wistful author from the 60s who pulled a book out of a cross country road trip and said "voila! America!" And in truth, that is largely what it was, though Steinbeck's companionable style made it a less pretentious voyage than most.
Think I'll start posting more about the books I've been reading. Here is one I just finished. #booksky
The biggest takeaway from the Our Lady Peace show last night was that Raine Maida paused between songs to do a blatant advertisement for an entirely unrelated product and that's apparently where we are at as a society. M
I think for Halloween this year I'm going to get a hold of one of those costumes, paint a hammer and sickle on it and go as Far Left Shark.
And yet Stanley enjoys a seemingly unimpeachable spot on this team, all in the name of some vague bid for "grit."
