These past 2 weeks since releasing Rogue Cell have been a blur. I even forgot to post about version 1.1 with New Game+! Of all the positive feedback, the biggest compliment has been seeing friends try again and again to beat their best times. 🦠

I used a Windows build. Steam Deck uses Photon which allows it to run a lot of games built for Windows (and so far so good).
Incredibly satisfying to see Rogue Cell running on a Steam Deck, can't believe how easy it was to set up. And it feels great to play it on a portable device!

Working on a custom LOD system for Rogue Cell, mostly just for "fun" while I wait for the release date. As cell radius or camera orthographic size increases, the mesh is regenerated to include more perimeter vertices.

For today's #ScreenshotSaturday, progress on a new arcade mode! Paying homage to "Agar.io" with this single-player, "grow as big as you can" mode, competing against fake players with frustratingly good enemy AI, and high scores to beat.

Been playing around with cell behaviours for a new arcade mode, and it's strangely entertaining watching the cells swim and dash around in the debug view at 5x speed.

Spatial audio makes such a difference, even in 2D games, in tracking where events are happening relative to the player. What a difference it makes, I can't believe I didn't set this up sooner.

After spending some time with it, I'll definitely build my own layer next time too! It's usually worth the upfront work to save time later.
It's a little surprising (not really) how few quality of life features are included for UI navigation in #Unity3D. But it's very satisfying to get auto-scrolling and dynamic navigation maps (for gamepad support) working! Now to actually make the options menu...

Rogue Cell was originally inspired by Agar-io's squishy cells and absorption mechanics, which were fun to replicate in #Unity3D. Procedural meshes with "dynamic vertices" that I could displace with spring-like dampening.
