A shade under a year to add 100 to the species life list. The next 100 will certainly take longer
Too barren for a Merv or a Blue thingy this year. 🙄
If I see any more of those multiple Merv shots I’m blocking them 😡
Had to check that
Convolvulus and Pine on the road
Marlborough and Netherlands near Eindhoven respectively.
Other 7 at home in the BW.
It’s almost as if you two are encouraging us to pack the traps away? I’ve put the Actinic out by itself tonight for a change as actinic light is allegedly more attractive to some Autumn species but still got lots left to tick even though I’m 63 species ahead of 2024 total as loads are still missing

Nothing new to share today so here’s a little montage of the Hawk-moths that I caught this year.
Lime. Poplar. Small Elephant.
Privet. Elephant. Pine.
Hummingbird. Convolvulus. Striped.
Always worth rechecking the trap site later in the day if possible. 😊

Acleris sparsana. Ashy Button
& possibly
Dryobota labecula. Oak Rustic ?
Had a moment when I thought I had a lifer thinking I had a Crescent but on reflection probably Oak Rustic. Opinions welcome.
It’s a bit quiet out there but another Feathered Ranunculus
(Polymixis lichenea) just arrived.
Rather nice.

Tut tut
Gently does it “Gentlemen”
Ridiculous as I’m sure you know.
Sometimes you have to wonder…….
Well done.
I’m actually having the night off !
Very early start tomorrow and it’s going to be too dark to dismantle the traps at that hour. Definitely getting FOMO vibes though.
Maybe it’s the bulb 😂😂😂

Leptologia lota. Red-line Quaker
(previously posted)
Rather nice Golden Twin-spot also visiting. Clear skies so a chilly morning.
Chrysodeixis chalcites. Golden Twin-spot.
Nice. Yellow-line not shown up yet here this year yet, but there’s still time.
Settle down now won’t you. Can’t take your picture while you’re doing that.
Hope you’ve got your traps out #TeamMoth ?

That’s good. Still waiting this year. I was hoping to pick one up when I visited South Hants this week but turned out my trap site was in a BW.
Must be following me. ☹️

Lithophane leautieri.
Blair’s Shoulder-knot.
Milder night with lots of rustic and sallow species. 👍
Thanks to all but the identifying features that made you sure is what I was really hoping for.

Bransgore. South Hants.
Freshly marked Sallow and Green-brindled Crescent the trap highlights.
Disappointing three nights with only 38 moths trapped, though it was a bit chilly. Home again now.
Cirrhia icteritia.
The Sallow. Allophyes oxyacanthae.
Green-brindled Crescent.
