This week was a pile of hot garbahhhje but hey I finally finished my latest project.

9”x24” finished, crewel wool on traditional groundcloth. (pattern by Avlea Folk Embroidery)

A long rectangular cream linen table runner with fringed edges and a geometric design worked in brick pink, navy, and muted teal wool thread. The pattern is from Avlea Embroidery and is based on Prairie-style architecture leaded glass windows. It took around 45-50 hours to embroider and finish, in case anyone wonders why this would not be a lucrative side hustle.

I am French, and also I work at a library.

I started the Xitter account of the same name as an anon account to post on COVID working conditions in mine/other libraries, so “heck” seemed both punny & fitting.

It's a line from Parks & Rec one of my fave shows. In that show, Leslie has an ongoing cold war with librarians. She calls them punk-ass book jockeys as she overturned a book cart and flees. I'm a librarian who is punk in spirit if not attire, so, yeah.

Lol went to the closest urgent care that lists xrays as a service and got all the way to the doctor part before they told me they don’t have an xray machine anymore and now I have to go somewhere else tomorrow, so anywayyyy blessed Mabon 🙃

Sprained ankle/possible fracture from a fall last wknd, worked over 8hrs of unpaid OT last week, topped off by a patron who yelled at & then reported me (lol) for not telling off a kid who “used profanity” (aka quietly said “stupid” to their Roblox game) in front of her 4yo. Y’all I am so so tired.

We ordered some of the @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social “Censorship Is So 1984” stickers
& gave them out at a community event on Saturday. A couple teens came up to the desk this afternoon to ask if I had any more (yep!). As they walked off, I heard them mutter “this is so tuff! 😤”

Thankfully it looks markedly better after a week but still concerned at the remaining swelling so I’m hoping to hit urgent care before work on Tuesday 🤞🤞 same foot/ankle I broke/sprained 10 years ago so I know it’s weaker from that.

Just a little guy (and his 4 little friends) I found munchin’ on my kale from the farmstand. He and his buddies were relocated to the bush outside my kitchen window with their own individual pieces of kale for a road snack (this is why I wash my greens 😅🐛)

A very small caterpillar, about as long as a penny, with thin black and white stripes on its back and a bright green underbelly, is happily eating a piece of raw kale being held by a human hand.

Got a call this morning from a parent of a new 4th grader wondering about our programs after school.

P: “do you get kids attending usually?”
Me: “well we have btwn 200 & 300 kids every day so there’s usually a good crowd”
