Once you lose it and go on the defensive, if the enemy has sufficient forces in the area, it becomes a salient - a place where you no longer threaten the enemy with encirclement, but where he threatens you with it.

Touching on the Nykanorivka-Boikivka salient - I'd like to say something that's been on my mind for quite a while.
Time and again this war has shown that a breakthrough is a ''breakthrough'' only while you hold the initiative.

With the occupation of Volodymyrivka and the clearing of the Nykanorivka-Boikivka salient - there is no longer any threat of encirclement for Russian forces.

The so-called ''bunny ears'' of the Dobropillya breakthrough also continue to regain their original form prior to Ukrainian counterattacks.

Though this information lacks, in my opinion, sufficient confirmation & what is being claimed does not seem sustainable.
We will, as always, just have to wait and see.

In Pokrovsk there is information regarding Russian gains in the Buddetal plant-''Electric Motor'' plant-''Pokrovsky Plant of Reinforced Concrete Products'' industrial area (to be referred to as the ''northwestern industrial area'' going forward), including up to highway M-30.

Usual caveat that this includes stuff I missed over the past few reports.
With their gains at Poltavka the Russians have now not only moved up to the Yanchur river - they had crossed it.
