Tl;dr Trans Suicide Hotline: 877.565.8860

Things are real bad right now and the aren't getting better anytime soon, especially for trans folks. Suicide was already a leading cause of death for our trans friends and I can't imagine that number getting better without direct involvement.
tbf I would have said the same thing in 2016-2024
Movie 19 - A Nightmare on Elm Street: So many old slasher movies struggle to hold up to the test of time, but Wes Craven crafted a timeless classic with Freddy Krueger that is still as terrifying as it was... 41 years ago. Holy shit I am so fucking old. 7/10!
Movie 18 - Perfect Neighbor: Not a movie, but this documentary is horrifying. A neighborhood Karen constantly yells at local kids and calls the police if she can hear them in her house, until one day a tragedy happens. Told entirely through actual police body cams. 7/10
Well you are in for a “treat”
Movie 17 - The Ugly Stepsister: Holy fucking shit. I thought The Substance was THE body horror achievement but I was so wrong. The Ugly Stepsister is an incredibly hard to watch and super effective retelling of Cinderella from the perspective of the eldest stepsister and this one gets wild. 10/10
Movie 16 - Babadook: It's great! Watch it! Watch it again! 10/10 love it!
Mrs Kooper is the cutest little protesting frog
Movie 15 - Black Phone 2: I am so sorry to report that this movie is absolute garbage. 50% of the film is exposition (not an exaggeration). The characters made the dumbest choices and the narrative had massive gaps. 3/10
One thing I appreciate about the No Kings protests is the myriad of locations. You might be hanging out with 100k or 10 but it’s local community and visible in so many communities. We partied with a couple thousand awesome people in Puyallup, WA today!
In the past I’ve felt that protests should be more organic and that planning things like this made it less authentic. Then I realized how dumb that is and that just because I (probably) won’t be facing off with riot cops it doesn’t make it less important.

Anyways, his and hers:
I think you're right. What a dumb thing to do. Small women getting beaten by large men in riot gear is not a good look.
Movie 14 - The Damned: This story about a fish camp owner that witnesses a boat crash made me feel very cold, and in this case that is a good thing. 8/10
I appreciate what she’s saying. My question is “what are we going to do to win these young men over?”

Telling a generation that they’re assholes is not going to help without some kind of personal benefit to change.
Movie 13 - Monster: The Ed Gein Story. Ok fine, it’s not a movie, sue me. I still have a bit of an internal struggle trying to decide how I feel about these shows. Are they serial killer propaganda? Idk, but this one is interesting. 7/10 #31in31 (I need to catch up!)
The DNC is pushing another Neo-Lib in Maine despite already having an outstanding candidate in Graham Platner. Does the entire current leadership need to die out before we can see progressive action in this country?
Oh and Kraken. It was a sweep!
UNPLANNED DOUBLE FEATURE!! Movie 12 - Found Footage: Horror comedy that leans more towards the comedy until a very Evil Dead ending. Friends make a movie in the woods but awaken something evil. Some legitimately funny parts and just generally enjoyable movie. Fun surprise for sure! 8/10 #31in31
Movie 11 - Strange Harvest: This found footage film wasn’t especially scary in the moment, relying instead on the general unease caused by cosmic horror. Acting and story were better than expected for this genre. Good times! 7/10 #31in31
Movie 9 - Till Death: Ultimately, it's my fault. Sure the RT reviews read 90%, but Megan Fox was right there on the cover image. I KNEW the likelihood of this movie being even so-so was low and I still watched it. Interesting idea, terrible acting and execution. 3/10 #31in31
Movie 8 - Trick `r Treat: This is one of my all-time favorite Halloween movies and if you haven't seen it then fix that. Each vignette ties together to create a larger story and it's so fun and awesome and why are you reading this, go watch this movie!!!! 10/10 no notes #31in31
Facts just don’t matter. This is why I feel like I’m losing my mind lol
