California voters, are you paying attention?

North Carolina Republicans are redrawing the map to hand Trump another seat. They’re bragging about locking down Congress for him.

Cartoon: 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘌𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳, by Flock (𝘍𝘭𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘎𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 magazine, France)
Seven-panel cartoon by artist Flock showing how easily the evils of fascism may be forgotten—and indeed, rekindled—with the passage of time.

Panel 1: An American GI storming the beach at Normandy in WWII.

Panel 2: Same GI, months later. He’s standing proudly with his fellow GIs on a battlefield, triumphantly holding a captured Nazi flag. The end of the battle for Europe is near.

Panel 3: The GI returns home from the war as a her, and is welcomed by a hug from his wife and a celebration banner above him. He is still holding the captured Nazi flag, which he has brought home with him as a memento of the terrible war; a symbol of the evil that he risked everything to defeat.

Panel 4: Now a little older and with his young son by his side, the Veteran solemnly sets the furled Nazi flag against the wall in his barn to be forgotten; a closed chapter in both his life and world history.

Panel 5: Time passes, and the Veteran’s son – now a grown man with a young boy of his own – stands mournfully at this father’s headstone.

Panel 6: More time passes, and the Veteran’s grandson, now a teenager, is standing in the old barn curiously peering at the old Nazi flag, which is leaning against the wall where the Veteran had left it so many years ago.

Panel 7: Years later, the grandson, now an adult with a diapered baby of his own, has unfurled and hung the Nazi flag from his late grandfather’s home, and is teaching the baby to give a Nazi salute. On the grandson’s arm is a SS logo, and his shirt is emblazoned with the letters “KKK.”

Sadly, the grandson has become exactly what the Veteran risked everything to defeat, and the evil of the Nazis has been at once forgotten and re-kindled in America.
