Nick Nurse says Joel Embiid & Paul George both played in live, full-court 3-on-3, which was George’s first live action. “I thought he looked really good,” he said of PG.

“You can still see incredible shot-making, & I think he was moving very well & didn’t seem tentative to me.”

Nick Nurse says he wants to play regular players and lineups as much as he can in Friday’s preseason finale, but that he probably won’t know exactly what it all is going to look like until Friday morning.

Jared McCain on VJ Edgecombe: “Oh man, he’s the best. Obviously, his athleticism is insane.“

McCain then spoke about Edgecombe’s ability to quickly apply coaching on the court.

Jared McCain is doing conditioning work and feels like he is in game shape. Doing a lot of left-handed work, since that’s all he can do. He’s been strengthening the knee even more.

Jared McCain tore the UCL in his right thumb tagging a roller. Felt a pop when making contact with a player and immediately knew. Went to the training room and started crying. After a few days, he got out of the “depressive state” and is back to his “normal self.”

Jared McCain says “the universe is throwing haymakers at me,” and that it was frustrating having this setback soon before returning from the knee injury. His next step is getting a cast off, then adding a playing brace to do passing and dribbling work.

Quentin Grimes says he “feels great” and has been picking up on some new offensive terminology. He plans on playing in the preseason finale on Friday vs. Minnesota.

Asked Oubre about these one-on-one sessions. He talked about loving the competition of it all and the value of facing different kinds of opponents.

“Just figuring out different ways to score against different body types, and obviously, the cheat code was out there today.”

Post-practice 1v1 session here has been incredibly spirited. Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, Justin Edwards, VJ Edgecombe, Kelly Oubre Jr. & Jabari Walker have been going at it. Walker had a very impressive stand vs. Embiid; Edgecombe shook free from George for a jumper.

Nick Nurse thinks there’s “some chance” Joel Embiid plays in the Sixers’ preseason finale. Some “thresholds” to get past before deciding that, but it’s in play.

Nick Nurse said Trendon Watford still has “a ways to go” before he’s doing live work, and says not having him out there in live action to date has been a “missed opportunity.”

“But when we get him back, we'll throw him in there and see what he's got. That's all we can do.”

Sixers injury updates after today’s practice:

• Joel Embiid was a partial participant, as planned

• Paul George and Trendon Watford are both in the process of reintegrating into team activities; they both did parts of practice as well

The Sixers have announced that their Jan. 31 game against the New Orleans Pelicans will be a reunion game for the 2000-01 Sixers players and coaches.
