Yeah, I'm working with a group that's aiming to do crowdsourcing of a master list of pillars so that we can move into the naive pillar strategy. I have some documents with a mission, etc to go deeper than the proposal. It can scale local to regional to national. Pillars are assessed on loyalty

I wrote a proposal that explains how we can move from the mass mobilization strategy we are currently into the naive pillar strategy and ultimately into the informed pillar strategy drive.proton.me/urls/8NJRWJW...

I don't think you have a good understanding of naive or informed pillar strategies if you think the Courage Collectives shift us from one to the other. Yeah, hundreds of thousands heard Indivisible's pillar stuff but it's not the pillar strategies from the research. I care about this research.

There are 2 pillar strategies Chenoweth mentions in a research paper and talks. Over time they have become known as the “naive” and “informed” pillar strategies. Indivisible doesn’t mention those or do anything to implement those strategies. I think that’s a shame.
acornbaden.bsky.social
I think you’re taking one very short video summarizing Chenoweth’s work. I’ve followed for years and seen it evolve over time and seen Chenoweth to describe these things in multiple ways in writing & video. I trust Chenoweth more than Indivisible on this topic. journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

How do you think Chenoweth uses pillars in a more narrow sense?
There’s 2 strategies Chenoweth mentions but One Million Rising/Courage Collective aren’t doing those instead they seemed to change things. I’m not sure if the changes are supported by the research.
acornbaden.bsky.social
That’s not how I understood pillars of support or pillar strategies before One Million Rising (OMR). I’ve been following Chenoweth’s work for years and I kept a list of the pillars they mentioned and “education” wasn’t a pillar “academic elites” were a pillar. Something seems off with OMR’s pillars
acornbaden.bsky.social
But what if the union doesn’t support the regime. I don’t feel like I’m in any pillars of support that support the regime. But One Million Rising says I’m in the business pillar as a consumer! Or the education pillar because I went to school or the healthcare pillar because I’m a patient!
acornbaden.bsky.social
The way Chenoweth describes it is to not just only build a "negative" coalition (what you don't want) but to build a "positive" coalition (what you do want). From Chenoweth's paper on pillar strategies activist & nonviolent civilians are supposed to aim to shift loyalties of the regime pillars
acornbaden.bsky.social
The One Million Rising description of pillars or more the way they ask what pillar we are in was confusing. I don't consider myself in a pillar of support for the Regime. Chenoweth talks about Pillar regarding shifting loyalties, not tearing down and Chenoweth recommends building our own.
acornbaden.bsky.social
This is where I get confused. From reading Erica Chenoweth I thought there were pillars of support for the regime and that building an alternative vision was a separate recommendation, task.

Oh! That’s okay! I’m severely disabled myself due to chronic illness. There’s are still ways you can be counted as protesting on Saturday without physically being at a protest location. drive.proton.me/urls/JYH75YN...

Yes, I’m the founder of the We Count Project. I wrote a proposal in early March which turned into a small group of volunteers. We worked on creating a dashboard, public source creator and informational material. We launched our website at the end of August. drive.proton.me/urls/5CDNRTV...
