I do think you have a point about it being too encouraging. LLMs are a mirror, and they try to please the user by telling them what they want to hear. I think we all need to realize that it's just an autocomplete, not a person and not take the things it says too seriously.

What irritates me is paying for a service that’s censored based on someone else’s idea of morality (usually dictated by credit card companies) when nothing I am doing is illegal.

I mostly use ChatGPT for prompt generation, script writing, and developing story ideas (and lately, image analysis). It's worked pretty well, but sometimes I'm twisting myself in knots to get it to do what I want it to without a refusal. Lately they've made it way harder to do any NSFW
