Just watched Possession (1981) this movie goes from uncomfortable domestic drama to, wait...what the hell is that?! What's going on? I kind of need all of my friends to experience this now
so I finally got around to watching Smile 2, while I still think the first one is better, this is still a fun horror flick, with a great performance from Naomi Scott, also between this and Companion I'm liking Lukas Gage in horror as well
it stars Samara Weaving (and she's great in it) the basic premise is a woman is on the run from a cult, but after getting captured and escaping, she seeks revenge against the cult. it's basically action/horror. I don't want to give too much away though. it's well worth just experiencing
@charalanahzard.bsky.social watching the new moviehaus and I want to recommend a movie called Azrael, for two reasons 1. I think it's great, and 2. Like weapons it really doesn't explain anything, and I'm curious how everyone would feel about that. It seems like a love it or hate it movie
Super late to the party, but I finally finished metal gear solid 2 yesterday, and while it is a great game, the gameplay to cutscene ratio in the third act is insane. Sometimes it feels like 10 minutes of gameplay followed by 30 minutes of cutscenes.
So I finally watched Presence (2024) the other day. I quite enjoyed it, even if I wouldn't really call it horror, but it did end up going somewhere I didn't anticipate, and I'll always appreciate that in a movie
thats fair, Nier does mostly end with the characters finding some level of peace, and hint at getting another chance. but up until the end it's still pretty bleak, I just think not having an opinion on any of the characters before starting, helps make the different perspectives work
while I enjoy the game and what it was trying to pull off with it's narrative themes and structure. The whole time I couldn't shake the sense that it was similar themes and a similar structure to Nier:Automata, but I thought Nier did it better. It was still an experience well worth having though
I was lucky enough to see this one at a movie festival back in March, the audience reactions to some of the scenes late in the movie just made it that much more enjoyable
so I finally finished Expedition 33, (there's still optional stuff I'm going to go back and do still) but this game is fantastic, it really deserves all of the hype
At the end of Final Destination: Bloodlines, when the "in memory of Tony Todd" came on screen, I heard a man behind me say "so that was his last movie, I wonder when they filmed this?" And a woman sitting in front of me said "before he died" shout out to that lady, that seriously made my night
just got back from seeing the premier of Wolf Moon Rising, it's super low budget yes...but it's also very entertaining, a great pick to watch with some friends
Claire Obscure: Expedition 33, is everything I could have hoped for turn based RPG's to become. As someone who loved Final Fantasy on the PS1, and has fond memories of Legend of Dragoon, I'm feeling right at home with this one
I may be a week late, but I finally watched Sinners tonight, it's a great movie, with tons of intrigue well before the vampires show up, though I wish the trailers hadn't given it away as a vampire movie. Structurally it's similar to From Dusk til Dawn, which I have no problems with at all
just started played Blue Prince a little over an hour ago, and I can see how this game would get addicting, there's a lot of "just one more run" going on here
so I finished South of Midnight tonight, I really enjoyed this game, beautiful art style, and a pretty good story with very solid (albeit very standard) action/adventure gameplay. this is a fantastic base for a potential sequel and I hope Compulsion gets the chance to make it
So I finally watched Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. It's masterfully made, there are no winners, heroes or villains, just people desperately trying to protect/avenge their loved ones, and the futility of the best laid plans
so I just watched Old Wounds via Panic Fest virtual and this was a pretty solid found footage flick. I have a few gripes, but it's worth a watch over all
I feel like such a poser of a movie nerd because I've only seen the remake of oldboy, and haven't seen the other two in the trilogy...I have work to do
