Back in the day we had 1-800 sex numbers you could call to meet supposedly like mind people or leave messages like personal ads. I think this might explain some of the call quality issues that were encountered.

Oh I remember when I first came across that and I was so conflicted. It almost perfectly was what I envisioned after I first learned about vac racks, and then I had one of those moments of feeling utterly exposed. Like when buying stretch wrap and duct tape at the hardware store. You know they know.
