To my Louisville family, it is with love and deep gratitude that I share this statement about the upcoming mayoral election.
This remake of Nightmare Before Christmas is allright in my book
The more I write about this, the more sure I am that I'm going to rewatch Season 1 as soon as I'm caught up on everything current.
It had seemed like S2 was going to be introducing the rest of the party but we seem to still be focused on the same core of characters, plus the angry barbarian who is the "guy with the dancing frog" of the show trying to figure out why everyone loves the talentless loser MC

Let This Grieving Soul Retire S2 e1-4:
I LOVED season 1 of this, season 2 has been a slight downshift but still very enjoyable. The pacing is also very nice- several storylines are constantly running- honestly I'd probably want to watch the entire season at once so I remember more
when I see a picture of a boat and think it's two boats next to each other because it's at such a wild angle, that's a good thing right? That's something that only super normal boats that don't have ballads do right?
I'm calling a shot on an end-of-series twist that the blue-haired helper secretary is some kind of instigator of all of this based purely on the vaguely evil ending credits animation based around her exclusively and no other characters.
Also thank christ she got a new outfit, her stupid fucking rug-wizard hubcap-cape was killing me. Beyond simple aesthetics, the tension between the MC's secret outside-world knowledge of the game clashing with the in-universe perspective of the characters is actually interesting too!

A Wild Last Boss Appeared! ep 1-4:
This show is actually managing to stay interesting despite having an all-powerful main character. The MC was invested in the wellbeing of the fantasy world of the game they were playing pre-isekai and wants to actually not go on a massive rampage
The ACTUAL plot is about 4 former classmates who were close friends reconnecting a few years later and picking up where they left off as an adventuring party while the MC tries to unlearn the shitty habits he got from his terrible life as a court magician. It's fun! Hope it stays fun!

The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest eps1-3:
I was expecting to not want to watch any of this past episode 1 based on the title, but the whole dumb premise of a magic user being used by a royal to make himself look better and then kicking him out is over in ep 1
I certainly didn't expect a royal court drama to turn into a fighting anime (replete with sparkly shoujo rose-bordered cutaways during fight scenes). The cliffhanger at the end of episode 4 made me almost want to wait for episode 5 just to see how it pans out, but no, this show is worth seeing.
Seasonal Anime™
May I Ask for one Final Thing? eps 1-4:
This show has been a weird ride but I've been enjoying it. What started as a simple "disgraced noble reclaims her pride" has become a secret infiltration of an underground slave-trade ring with secret medieval gun dealers
I've read a few mangas that start as brutal revenge fantasies but by the end are just lighthearted adventure quests because they can't resist Goku-fying the main character. This show isn't probably going to be good, but it can at LEAST stick true to its principles.
He spent half of episode 3 messing with the first party member to really break his spirit, when if he just iced him and moved on we could have had plot happen. The claim was that the MC "needed information out of him" but he didn't get any so like... what are we doing here.
I feel like this show might wimp out and not let him be as cruel as the story wants, and if that happens it's going to amount to nothing. They keep showing him as a goofy happy kid and it's like... no we don't need Goku in this show we need Frieza.
My take on this show is probably pretty weird so here goes. It's a cruel angsty revenge fantasy- he finally started his quest for revenge in episode 3 and plans to murder his way through his former partymembers one at a time, and possibly declare war on the nations that are being mean to humans-
Naturally, it turns out his seemingly useless summoning power was only useless because he wasn't surrounded by enough powerful magic and after being left half-dead in the most dangerous depths of a monster-filled abyss he magically summons an army of supersoldiers who train him for revenge

My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I'm Out for Revenge! eps 1-3:
This show is absolute edgelord revenge fantasy. Boy travels to the big city to be an adventurer and is taken in and then cruelly and pointlessly betrayed by his fellow adventurers.
They don't shy away from being unflattering which I appreciate- there are people at the office that absolutely DO NOT like the MC and the show reminds us of it, even in the fun episodes where they get dragged to a drinking party. The guy is a bit of a cardboard cutout, so hopefully he gets some life

My Awkward Senpai Eps 1-3: Seems like a cute work romance with a seemingly iron-fisted boss slowly getting closer to her new trainee and revealing that she's really just shy and awkward and not the impervious superwoman they take her as. It's been fun so far, and I'm sticking around.
Seasonal Anime™ is back! I wanted to give the shows this season a few episodes to breathe since almost everything I'm watching is a new series (and also because I've been super busy and haven't wanted to spend all night watching cartoons)
