Congratulations, Jared Leto. You've killed another franchise. This week's Cinema Playground Journal eyewitnesses the manslaughter of Tron: Ares, while also taking a look at The Woman in Cabin 10, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Roofman, and Soul on Fire.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
"I love Reeves' performance in this because it seems like he was sucked out of an entirely different movie, playing his role as stage actor who specializes in hokey melodrama who wandered onto the set of an outrage comedy and is both uncomfortable and enthusiastic about it."
Black Phone 2
⭐️⭐️⭐️
"The original has the better story but the second might be the creepier movie. It features more stylistic flourishes, more macabre setpieces, and is rooted in an unsettling idea that was layered underneath the traumatic ripples of a premise that seemed pretty singular at the time."

The next serial is Frontier in Space. I doubt I'll get to it next week because next week is a Joe Bob week. I'm definitely hoping to make time for it soon.

Until next time...

I don't know if it's just that I've been away from Doctor Who for a while but I feel like I loved this one more than I should have. It tickled every niche bone in my body with high camp level, silly characters, a high-concept premise, and a snappy pace.

And it had Shirna. I loved her so much.
The Carnival of Monsters is closed down, but we still have small-scale grifting.
"It does seem to have been a long trip, somehow."

::Twilight Zone theme::
I just now realize Jo has a ring on almost every finger. She's almost as blinged as Mr. T.
"What about the Doctor?"
"We must be too late."

I assume. Based on nothing.
"Put your finger on there, will you?"

::electric fire::Shirna yelps::

"Good. That must be the live terminal."

Lmao
Shirna is the only one the Doctor isn't bellowing at. He's fallen under her Cockney spell also.
Head carny just heard the Doctor do a whole speech in English and he thinks his best shot at communicating with the Doctor is by talking like this guy from The Waterboy.

I hear the Doctor's frustration at his situation of being trapped in a little viewing box, but I think his anger is misplaced because technically it's the TARDIS that brought him here and not any of these people.
Ah! A mouse!

Oh wait, it's just a tiny Jon Pertwee.
Jo's getting mad at amnesiacs for having amnesia. This feels ableist.
This episode just broke out a Tommy Gun! That's how you know this is the best serial ever!
"Why is the Eradicator unattended?"

This is actually a reasonable question to ask of something called "The Eradicator."
It's only natural that Jo spoils her hiding spot because a man zeroes in on her CFM boots
I refuse to explain it but she's my latest Doctor Who crush
The Doctor and Jo feel irritated at being viewed for other people's amusement.

This feels meta for some reason.
"But I'd have to put my hand inside!"

Me not wanting to clean the toilet.
"Doctor, I'm stuck!"

I'm in a shallow puddle and I can't move!
